4th of July in Colorado means Fun, Fireworks, and the Firecracker 50! A 50 mile mountain bike race in Breckenridge, CO, the Firecracker is a brutal race, with (2) 25 mile laps and a top-out elevation well above 11000 ft! This year, the Firecracker was the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Biking National Championship.
After just over 5 and a half hours in the saddle, (and a ridiculous amount of dust inhaled) Tiffanie Beal came home 3rd in the 19-29 Womens Open Field. A great result, and having finished only 10 minutes behind the eventual winner, Tiff is sure to return next year with a win on her mind!
On a sadder note; Brooks, Tiff, James, and Mike all wish the best to team member Chris Boyd, whose mother fell ill on Independence day. We're all thinking of you and your entire family Boyd, and wish for the best.
