About Our Team
We are a 4 person Adventure Racing team based in Boulder, CO. We pledge to give back 5-10% of all sponsorship money and winnings received in 2009 to environmental nonprofits. Through these efforts, we will again be a carbon-neutral race team for 2009 with all carbon offsets sponsored by Native Energy!

The team would like to say thank you to NUUN for sponsoring our team for 2008. As the leader in fluid electrolyte replacement, we don't have anything else in our bottles, ever. We use NUUN for pretty much every workout we do, and are excited to spread the word. If you haven't tried it yet, Get some NUUN!!!
Golite will be conducting a warehouse clearance sale this weekend, December 7-9 at the Denver Merchandise Mart, at I-25 and 58th Avenue in Denver, CO. All GoLite Products will be 30%-80% off retail prices! Unlike the sales in Boulder, this sale will include GoLite Footwear, and as I've said before, these are the best shoes on earth! Come and check out some of our favorite gear, the Rush and VO24 packs, the Wisp and Ether wind shirts, and the Sun Dragon shoes!! Plus, if you are looking for familiar faces, Brooks and Colin will be working the footwear section, and Tiffanie will be manning a cash register all weekend. The sale will be open from 8am-8pm on Friday, and 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday!
Hope to see you this weekend!
Congrats to Colin!!! Colin ordered a new bike today, a Rocky Mountain Element. It is going to be a sick one!!!
Picture pages, don't forget your crayons and pencil. Below are some pics from our past few rides at Buffalo Creek, Hall Ranch and Centennial Cone.

We would like to thank Native Energy for sponsoring our Carbon

Offsets for the 2008 racing season. By helping to build wind farms and other renewable energy sources, Native energy makes the most o
f your offset dollars. By sponsoring our offsets, Native energy will allow us to donate more money for 2008 to other needy environmental causes.
Still recovering from Saturday's fun, Tiff, Brooks, Colin, and Chris Boyd (Team Timberland) went for a mountain bike ride at Centennial Cone park in Jefferson County. This was the first time any of us had ridden the trail, and it didn't disappoint! The people who cut this trail did a great job, and it was some of the best singletrack I have ridden in quite some time. Boyd is doing a race in Guadalupe, Mexico next weekend with his girlfriend, and he was excited to get out and do some riding before the big race. Colin has some picutres. We'll upload them soon!
Tiffanie and Brooks went for a "walkabout" last Saturday. We joined up with the likes of Elite adventure racers Shane Sigle and Travis Macy and starting from the town of Golden, we basically bushwacked along every ridge, peak, and gulley we could find just west of Golden. After finding our way back to town 3 hours later, we hopped on our mountain bikes and took the long climb up Chimney Gulch with the same group plus the addition of recent rim-rim-rim record holder at the grand canyon and fellow GoLite athelete Dave Mackey. It was a great day, but we were pretty worn out in the end. We have been taking it pretty easy since our last race in September, and Tiff has just been resting her ankle which seems to be back to 100%. These guys were preparing for a race in Abu Dhabi in 2 weeks, so they were fast!All-in-all, a great day. Colin couldn't make it, but we will punish him another day!Sorry no pictures, we were going too fast just trying to keep up!
Our team would also like to announce our partnership with Native Energy. Of all the options out there, we feel that Native energy provides the best rewards for Renewable Energy Credits and Offsets. Rather than just feeling good about offsetting, Native shows you where your money is going, and is using the offset money to help promote renewable energy and build renewable energy farms. For the 2008 Racing season, we will be using Native Energy for our Carbon offsets.
We are proud to announce that Smartwool has agreed to sponsor us for the 2008 racing season. We all race exclusively in Smartwool socks, and can't wait to see what other Merino wool goodies we can test for next season. I have had serious wool aversions in the past, but since I started wearing Smartwool I am hooked. The small fiber merino they use doesn't itch, and it really is one of the best technical fibers around (not to mention it doesn't make you stink). A big thanks to Smartwool, we are definitely excited for the new partnership.
Well, I certainly learned one thing this past weekend. Orienteering solo is a whole new ball game from working with a team. With Brian in Australia, Tiff still laid up with a bum ankle, and Colin prepping to go to DC, I went to the RMOC orienteering meet in Nederland this weekend solo.
Going for the red course (highest difficulty and longest length), everything was going great for the first 5 points. Looking for CP 6, I got hopelessly off course - (I think my compass is broken, you'd believe me if you saw the way it works) and spent 30 minutes trying to find where I was. Although there were other teams around to ask for help, I wanted to dig myself out alone, and finally found the way. After reaching CP6, I just took it pretty easy, and spent more time trying to discover tricks and just having a good time. All-in-all, finished around 30 minutes back from the other Adventure Racers there, so I know not to get lost next time!
Orienteering meets are great fun, and the people are great. Even with the cold weather and rain (which destroyed my map) it was a blast, and I am hoping to do another this weekend at Kelly Dahl campground again in Nederland. Hope to see you all there!
Remember, when in the woods, stay found...... being lost sucks.

While Tiffanie is making great strides with her injured ankle (she made it out on a road ride on Sunday...no one hammers like Tiff Beal) Brooks and Colin continued some more off season training and fun. Last Wednesday, they went for a run with elite ultra-runner and fellow GoLite athlete Dave Mackey up Flagstaff Mountain. The three of them bagged the summit and made it back to the trailhead at Chatauqua in just under an hour.
On Saturday, Brooks ran an orienteering course near Nederland to continue to hone his already sharp navigating skills and Sunday was Tiff's aforementioned day back in the saddle.
Colin also went out on a road ride on Sunday before leaving for a business trip in Washington DC. After the mountainous terrain of the greater Boulder area, Colin was expecting some nice easy terrain and thick, oxygen enriched sea level air. Since his group was staying in downtown DC, a road run was in order Monday afternoon. Call it a lack of road running lately, but Colin's legs are on the sore side today after only a 50 minute run! Needless to say he's looking forward to getting back on the trails in Boulder!
We're going to make more of an effort to carry a camera with us and add more pics to this site, but in the meantime, check out this link to the video from the Adventure Xstream Vail race. Brooks and Tiff get a great close up during the rogaine section!

Much to Tiffanie's dismay (icing her ankle), Colin and Brooks decided to take a run on Saturday... To the top of Bear Peak @ 8461'! As usual, we started from the house, ran up Bear Canyon, and then up the Bear Peak West Ridge Trail to the summit. 5 miles and 3000 vertical feet later, we were finally there. By the way, the last 1/4 mile is really steep! A quick descent down the very steep Fern canyon got us back home in around 2h:30minutes. It was a great run, we definitely took some time to enjoy looking at the new snow up in the Indian Peaks, and chat with other people on the trail. I wouldn't say it was leisurely though, Colin runs uphill like a gazelle!
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Sorry no pictures, but neither of us felt like carrying a camera up the mountain!
During a short run from the house up to Mallory Cave here in Boulder last Thursday night, Tiffanie had a little mishap, rolling her ankle on the way down the hill. She was able to "walk it off" and make it the 2 miles back home under her own power, but a trip to the doctor on Friday morning revealed a severe sprain. After a mellow weekend (which is not easy for Tiffanie, she is not one to take days off), the swelling has subsided quite a bit, and she is able to walk with very little pain.
Hope for a speedy recovery!
We are proud to announce GoLite Footwear as an official sponsor for the 2008 racing season! We have all been racing in the "Sun Dragon" shoe for the past year, and I'll be the first to tell you, these shoes are AMAZING!! Having chronic foot problems in races for the past 2 seasons, switching to these shoes has been incredible. No more foot pain, no more knee pain while running downhill. Not to mention the Precisefit system, which allows you to customize the insole depending on your foot width and volume! You need to get some of these shoes. Trail running, hiking, lightweight backpacking, you can't go wrong.
Well, here we go. Time to get started with this whole blog craziness. More to come when we get a chance.
Oh yeah, support our team!
